Critics could not accept TRASGRESSION of Hungryalist writing

The Hungryalists intentionally wrote transgressive fiction and poetry. Academicians labelled their  literature as dirty, down-low, obscene, shocking, illegal, or just plain strange. The Hungryalists wanted a real revolution.

Revolution doesn't attempt to change the way things are slowly, bit by painful bit.  So, the Hungryalists didn't quietly revise censorship practices. They tried to burn all the old conventions down as fast as they could. They wrote about whatever they wanted, and used profanity. The State of West Bengal issued arrest warrants against eleven Hungryalists, arrested five of them and filed a criminal case against Malay Roychoudhury on charges of Obscenity and conspiracy against soceity.

Stark Electric Jesus

Malay Roychoudhury's poem Stark Electric Jesus, fir which he was convicted by a lower court and exonerated by the Calcutta High Court is a complex poem. And it did just what the title suggests—it made the press and academicians angry. The charges against the poem is not only explicitness of sexual references but also references to God.
